Lunch with Hermione (for socialjusticewitch)
continued on from here
After their midnight conversation ended, Harry had put away the paperwork and had actually gone to bed as he'd said he would. More surprisingly, he'd actually gotten up before his alarm, refreshed and ready to start the day. Whether that had more to do with his upcoming lunch with Hermione or not... he wasn't going to say. There was no hiding that he was excited to catch up with his best friend. Not only that, but it would be a nice break from the Aurors for a little bit.
After the war, he hadn't gone straight back into his relationship with Ginny. He felt he owed himself time to truly figure his shit out. This caused some strain on his relationship with the other Weasley's and so it wasn't often he was seen around the Burrow. He hadn't wanted that to come between him and Hermione though and so he didn't bring the subject up. The last thing he wanted was for it to influence or create any sort of friction between her and Ron or the other Weasley's. He valued valued his friendship with Hermione too much for that and knew he hadn't thanked her enough for how she had always stood by him since they were children.
He left his office at ten till and arrived at Hermione's office right on time. He knocked on the door and gave her a smile. "Are you ready for lunch?"

Sorry for disappearing!!
Besides, at this point it was years ago and she hardly ever thought about the fact that the two had been an item.
When Harry showed up at her door, she got up from behind her desk and returned his smile.
"Starving, actually."
After grabbing her purse and throwing a coat on, she gave Harry a gick kiss on the cheek in greeting.
"How's your day been?"
It's okay! It happens!
"It's been good, fast which is a nice change of pace," he said as they made their way down the hall. "Besides, it's always a good day when there haven't been any emergencies before noon."
"What about yours?"
He really needed to make sure they didn't let time go so long before they caught up with each other.
Re: It's okay! It happens!
No, sending howlers to various members of the governing body of wizard society was not a particularly charming tactic, but charm had never been one of Hermione's defining traits, and she got more and more done with playing nice the longer she spent working for the government.
It was absolutely exhausting to spend her days trying to get through to people about how it was, in fact, wrong of wizards and witches to consider themselves the sole arbiters on what was the proper way to treat every single being who had even a scrap of magic in them. Especially since said way was shockingly often to subjugate and mistreat said beings.
For a society created for the express purpouse of escaping prejudice and persecution, the level of hypochrisy was simply astounding.
no subject
"If your day gets quieter, I can send you some names to send howlers to," Harry said, only slightly teasing. There was any number of sodding wizards and witches out there that Harry would like to send howlers to before he was able to find some charge to arrest them on.
Many were still simply slapped on the wrist because of their blood status, even now. It was an endless sort of frustration for Harry.
